Introduction
This functionality is especially useful for organizations that use the CXO-Cockpit during their closing process (as opposed to organizations that use CXO-Cockpit only after the closing process). Especially for organizations that want to control the changes to CXO-Cockpit (and with that the information seen by Executive Management), the controlled refresh options will continue to be available.
Overview
The main component of the HFM Live link is the HFM Extraction Service. The following schema ilustrates the live link functionality.
Process
- HFM Live Link refreshes the data for 1 incremental loadset only, this typically the current month actuals, configuring multiple scenarios is also allowed.
- The HFM Extraction service checks HFM with an interval. By default this is 60 seconds.
- Based on timestamps in HFM, the extraction service will extract slices of data that where changed. The slices are defined on the Entity, Year, Period and Scenario dimensions.
- The HFM Extraction Service will load the data into the staging database, where it is transformed to the Fact Database that will be incrementallly loaded into the SSAS cube.
- The duration of the whole refresh depends on the number of changed entities and normally takes between serveral seconds and several minutes.
